Catena Bioscience

“California Innovation Fund provided fantastic advice and support even before our deal closed. They have been an amazing resource for us here at Catena and we're proud to be giving back to UC Berkeley through CIF's shared carry.”

— Marco Lobba, Co-founder and CEO

Nobel Prize winner Jennifer Doudna’s Ph.D. student Marco Lobba met MBA student Geo Guillen at Berkeley Haas’s entrepreneurship class. Together with Professor Matthew Francis, Chair of the UC Berkeley Department of Chemistry, they founded a company that uses their revolutionary technology to develop new therapies for cancer, vaccines, and autoimmune disorders.

Catena Bioscience is an excellent example of transforming UC Berkeley's scientific research into revolutionary technology to create new therapies for cancer and vaccines and to help cure autoimmune disorders.
